The boat is remarkably well preserved and has a beautiful first-class dining salon with rich carved wood throughout. Having lunch there seemed obligatory. Lucerne has a large, well-preserved old town that is incredibly rich in culture and very dynamic. Very talented street performers abound and the crowds are manageable, even in August. Images 64-67 show the stone carving of the "Lion of Lucern", which Mark Twain called " the saddest and most moving piece of rock in the world ".
